Tucked away in one of Melbourne’s quieter laneways near Centre Place, this café is a cozy spot known for its fresh, flavorful bagels and lively coffee culture. The space is small, with outdoor seating that invites you to settle in for a laid-back breakfast or lunch. It’s the kind of place where locals and visitors alike come for a casual bite—whether solo or with company—and enjoy the casual, welcoming atmosphere.
The menu leans heavily on toasted bagels, each filled with combinations that balance fresh, vibrant ingredients like avocado, halloumi, and homemade mayo. Options include both vegetarian and vegan choices, as well as more substantial varieties with bacon or sausage for those seeking a heartier quick bite. Alongside coffee, fresh juices are a popular choice, adding a refreshing touch to the offerings. There’s even a small bar onsite, so a quiet beer or a casual drink pairs naturally with the food.
During a typical visit, you might notice the friendly chatter with staff who are happy to share stories about the homemade nature of their dishes. The interior has a cozy, trendy feel, decorated with nostalgic touches that give it a somewhat homely, lived-in charm. It’s a favorite among college students, tourists exploring the laneways, and anyone who appreciates a humble yet thoughtfully crafted meal in a casual setting.

"Small place but easy to find seats, service was good and food OK."
"Amazing coffee, great vibe, hilarious staff, awesome location, DEFFO RECCOMENDO!"
"Cosy and familiar atmosphere, lovely people, good music, great bagels. 🥯😻"
5 Best coffee in the area and no one knows it shhhhh! Worth the hunt to find this in a laneway off Elizabeth. Deliciously fresh juice and friendly people. They use old kids hardback classics to hold their menus and bric a brac cups and collectors spoons to add that tea at granny’s charm. Because it’s a laneways shop it’s a bit crowded but nothing bad. The bagels looked great but we weren’t hungry so we just had the coffees.
5 A review by a Singaporean couple: Loved the hospitality and vibes, resembling homeliness. The people were great, super friendly and welcoming. Thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the owner, which felt like family. Food was absolutely divine and must try! We ordered the cheeseburger and Reuben bagels. Didn’t snap any pictures (super regretful) Owner shares that every item is homemade and he tries to keep his prices affordable for everyone to enjoy a good meal. Highly recommend if you’re craving bagels or just some lovely people to speak to.
5 Great breakfast spot with delicious bagels. We tried the Humpty Dumpty and Kevin bacon which were both great. It’s small inside and the music was very loud but nice enough spot to eat and then go about your day.
5 Good food! Great service! This place is such a hidden gem in Melbourne! had a bagel here and Fresh, perfectly chewy, and packed with flavour.
5 I found this café by accident, and it turned out great! I keep coming back not just for the coffee but also the bagels. They’re simple, tasty and satisfying.
5 This little hole-in-the-wall joint is an institution. The Humpty Dumpty (Bagel of My Dreams) is every bit just as good as I remembered from when I visited 6-7 years ago. Everything is made with such heart and warmth and perfectly balanced flavors. Each bagel is stuffed with quality ingredients and so moreish! Even the coffee is exceptional. And magically we also managed to find a cosy corner to sit in! Thank you, you made our first day out in the city as a little family! I wish there were more places like this and I hope you can continue to serve bagels here to the end of time
5 Small little cafe tucked away in one of Melbourne’s laneways that had terrific bagels and drinks. Staff were all very lovely and accomodating with changes due to dietary restrictions and the vibe was rustic and cozy. Limited seating space but food was amazing. Highly recommend for a quick breakfast/brunch.
5 Charming place that has been around for “a few years” (I think around 26!) for a reason. Super friendly and welcoming service. Yummy bagels. Delightful juice. Good coffee. What more could you want? Really, it’s perfection.
The Mcbagel, Fresh Juice, Dirty Ron, and Kaiser Bagel are some of the must-try menu highlights.
It’s great for both quick bites and relaxed sit-down meals with table service in a cozy and trendy setting.
This cafe is perfect for solo diners as well as casual meet-ups, though the space is small and can get a bit crowded.
Yes, they accept credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments for easy checkout.
There is outdoor seating and indoor seating in a casual, cozy space with a friendly vibe, popular with college students and tourists.
